"Amur E600" New Russian electric submarine

A representative of the Rubin Central Design Bureau said that the bureau’s specialists had completed the design of the latest Amur E600 electric submarine, capable of operating under water for 17 days.

In an interview with the Russian news agency RIA Novosti, the spokesman notes that this new electric submarine has a displacement of only 600 tons and uses lithium-ion batteries.

He says: “The Central Design Bureau presents at the Army-2022 forum a small electric submarine with a displacement of only 600 tons. This submarine belongs to the Amur project and was named Amur E600. unlike other submarines of this project, it uses lithium-ion batteries with a “High” capacity, with a small backup diesel generator. The main advantages of this submarine are its size and high autonomy under water for 14-17 days, which corresponds to the continuous underwater autonomy of large submarines operating with autonomous power plants without the need to appear on the water surface.

He adds that the maximum range of this submarine is about 1,500 miles. In this project, the designers used a number of solutions aimed at reducing energy consumption.
