Andy Muschietti Confirmed as ‘Top Choice’ Director for Batman Reboot in DCU

The Brave and the Bold, a new Batman movie for the DCU, will be directed by Andy Muschietti. This is now a fact.

Andy Muschietti, who directed The Flash, is now the “top choice” to direct the next Batman movie, The Brave and the Bold. The DC movie will reboot The Dark Knight for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s rebalanced DCU. It will introduce a new version of the iconic superhero as he fights crime and tries to reconnect with his son Damian, whom he hasn’t seen in a long time.

The Hollywood Reporter now says that multiple sources have told them that Gunn and Safran want Muschietti to stay in the DC family after The Flash comes out. Multiple sources told THR that he is the best choice to direct the Batman movie The Brave and the Bold, but an official offer has yet to be made. “Even though there isn’t a script and the director hasn’t made a formal commitment, post-writers strike until there is one,” the report says.

This confirmation comes after weeks of rumors, the latest of which said that The Flash director Andy Muschietti would return to the D.C. Universe to direct the next Batman movie, The Brave and the Bold. This earlier report came from One Take News, which said they had “confirmed with multiple sources” that Muschietti will direct the latest reboot of The Dark Knight. The director and DC Studios co-chief James Gunn have hinted at this move.

The idea that Muschietti would follow up on The Flash with The Brave and the Bold has long been discussed. When asked if he would be in the first chapter of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s rebalanced DCU, the director played coy. He recently said, “I can’t talk about that… yet.” Muschietti is best known for the horror hits It, It Chapter Two and Mama, not for The Flash. On the other hand, James Gunn has nothing but good things to say about Muschietti’s work on The Flash. In February, he said it was “probably one of the best superhero movies ever made” and that “Andy’s going to be doing some more stuff for us.”

The Brave and the Bold will be in Chapter One: Gods and Monsters of the new DCU. Starting with the reboot of Superman, Superman: Legacy, The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and Swamp Thing will be shown on the big screen. Other projects will be announced at a later date. The Brave and the Bold will start showing the Bat Family, but most details remain secret. The show will be about Bruce Wayne and his son Damian Wayne, who is now Robin. Since then, Gunn has said the movie is a “strange father-and-son story” about the two superheroes. Chapter One: Gods and Monsters will start on July 11, 2025, when Superman: Legacy emerges.

Andy Muschietti Will First Direct Two Versions of Batman in The Flash

In a flash, director Andy Muschietti deals with two versions of The Caped Crusader before he looks at the relationship between Batman and his son. Two worlds will meet in a flash when the superhero uses his powers to return and change the past. But when he messes up the future while trying to save his family, he gets stuck in a world where General Zod has returned and is trying to destroy everything. The Flash has no other superheroes to help him, so he tries to get a different Batman out of retirement and free a Kryptonian from prison, but it’s not the one he wants.

Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton will return as different versions of Batman in The Flash. Ezra Miller will play Barry Allen, aka The Flash, again, and Sasha Calle will play Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl. Michael Shannon will play General Zod, Ron Livingston will play Henry Allen, Maribel Verd will play Nora Allen, Kiersey Clemons will play Iris West, and Antje Traue will play Faora-Ul.
