Angola is struggling to reach its production quota in OPEC

Vera Davis, the finance minister of Angola, said that her country will probably have trouble meeting its OPEC production pledge for at least two years.

Angola’s main source of income, crude oil production, has been steadily going down for years because the country has not put enough money into the energy sector.

According to the most recent data from the International Energy Agency, oil output started up again in August after hitting a 17-year low in June. However, it is still below the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries’ set production level.

Reuters talked to the minister, who said that he thought production would reach that level in the “mid term,” which means in the next two to five years.

He said, “We will do our best, but it will be hard to get this done in the short run.”
