A Turkish source said yesterday that Hungarian President Katalin Novak intends to visit Ankara next Wednesday, and that he will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The source added, “Erdogan and Catalin may discuss joining Finland and Sweden to NATO given the readiness of the Turkish and Hungarian parliaments to ratify Finland joining the alliance. Catalin Novak is a Hungarian politician and was elected president of Hungary after being elected in the 2022 presidential elections, and is a member of the Fidesz party – the Hungarian Civil Union – previously held the position of Minister of the Family in Orban’s fourth government from 2020 to 2021. Novak is the first woman to hold the presidency in Hungary, as well as the youngest president in the history of Hungary, born in 1977 in Szeged.
