Answer six big questions about I am Jesus Christ

A few weeks ago, a relatively unknown game studio released a trailer for I Am Jesus Christ. The trailer showed a game that allows users to experience the life of Jesus Christ as it is shown in the Bible. The announcement met with some criticism, but we were excited to see if this was a real project or a stunt. Who makes this game And are they real or am I meant to be Jesus Christ as satire?

For answers, we turned to SimulaM CEO Maksym Vysochanskiy, who was happy to talk to us about his game. Here are the greatest lessons learned from this conversation.

First, I am sure that people are curious. So do you consider yourself a Christian? How important is the story of Christ in your life?
Yes, I am a Christian. I was amazed at the story of Christ when I read the Bible.

What experience have you had in the industry so far?
I was a strong player in my youth and I think I played all kinds of games at that time. That inspired me to launch a few personal apps for mobile games. Then I met the people on Playway and we started to cooperate. One day I shared my idea about I am Jesus Christ and they fully supported me.

What exactly is that idea? Is this a satire or do you have a message that you would like to convey?
This game is about a 30 year journey in my life. The idea came to me as a teenager. I was inspired by computer games and computer animations. I wanted to make a computer animation film about Jesus Christ. In recent years, this idea has turned into a computer game because I want to show what Jesus Christ did from the first person perspective.

I see creating games as an art form. Many artists have made great paintings about Jesus Christ for centuries. There have been many great films about him in the past 50 years. Now I want to follow this tradition and create a masterpiece of art with a computer game.

Can you describe the gameplay a little? What will the players do as Christ?
Well, we want to keep the gameplay secret for now, but players can do famous miracles like Jesus from the Bible, cast out demons, heal and feed people, and fight against Satan. We want to keep it as close as possible to the gospels. But the Gospels don’t tell us how Jesus casts out demons? Or what did these demons look like? These parts are on our shoulders and we want to show how it could have been.

Why do you think there are no longer games based on the Bible?
Well, it’s a tough question . Honestly, I don’t have an answer, but I think people are fed up with these zombie games.

What do you think of people’s reactions to the game? Have you seen particularly strong reactions that surprised you?
Our entire team is surprised by the enormous amount of feedback. This shows that people want it and are ready to play it. We don’t pay too much for trolling. We want to focus on the game.
