Arab and international welcome to the Khartoum political agreement

On Sunday, the ministry affirmed in this regard the stability and continuity of the Kingdom position in support of all that could achieve pace and maintain security, stability and development in Sudan, according to the Saudi news agency “SPA”.

In turn, Kuwait welcomed the agreement reached between the parties to the transition phase in Sudan, stressing that it supports anything that could maintain its security and stability.

‘Great effort’

For his part, the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, welcomed the political agreement between Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok, the army chief and the head of the Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan.

The university said in a note that the agreement came “following the enormous and continuous Sudanese efforts – supported by the Arabs and internationally – made in recent weeks to get out of the crisis the country has witnessed and to make the transition period successful, leading to the conduct of the elections at its conclusion. “

Aboul Gheit also ordered that the university and its organizations work “intensively” with the government that Hamdok will form to implement the objectives of the constitutional document and the agreement of pace of Juba, according to the statement.

“A step towards sustainable stability”

For its part, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry welcomed the signing of the political agreement between Al-Burhan and Hamdok.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page, he expressed the hope that “the agreement represents a step towards achieving sustainable stability. in Sudan, opening up prospects of development and prosperity for the people “.

“Addressing issues in suspended”

Also the United Nations Integrated Mission to support the transition phase in Sudan (UNITAMS) welcomed the political agreement between Hamdok and the proof.

In a statement, the mission stressed the need to protect the constitutional system to preserve fundamental freedoms for political action and the freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.

He also stressed that “the transition partners will need to address the issues urgently in suspended to complete the political transition in inclusive way, respecting human rights and the rule of law “.

Agreement and its conditions

Interestingly, on Sunday Hamdok and Al-Burhan signed a political agreement, according to which Hamdok was returned to his position as prime minister. The signing ceremony took place at the presidential palace in the capital, Khartoum.

The agreement called for a dialogue between all political forces to establish the constitutional conference, accelerate the completion of all transitional government institutions and release all political detainees, after weeks of unrest and demonstrations in the streets of Khartoum. in a sign of protest against the army measures imposed on 25 October, which led to the dissolution of the government and the former Sovereign Council, as well as the suspension of the work of some commissions, and also of the provisions of the constitutional document. It also imposed a state of emergency.

Hamdok is expected to assume a civilian government of competences for a transitional period, provided that the partnership in the country’s government remains with the military component, through the Sovereign Council, before any subsequent transfer of power to civilians.
