Arab Monetary Fund: We expect the economies of oil-exporting countries to grow by 5.2% in 2022

The Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department of the International Monetary Fund, Jihad Azour, predicted questyear a recovery in the economies of the oil exporting countries and an improvement in the non-oil sectors, bringing the rate of growth in these countries at 5.2%, which will be among the highest levels in the last decade.

Azour claimed in an interview with Al-Arabiya that the data shows that the economic recovery of the Middle East and North Africa for the year 2022 is still in course, noting that oil exporting countries will benefit from higher prices and higher production.

He added that the recovery is continuing for oil-importing countries, but at a different pace.

He explained that with regard to the overall growth situation, there are two main elements, the issue of inflation, which has become relatively high, especially for oil-importing countries, while the second element is the increase in interest rates. globally due to monetary policies which will be reflected in the financing capacity of a number of countries in the region.
