Argentina faces inflation with new banknote

According to a statement released by the country’s central bank, the Argentine authorities have decided to introduce a new 2,000-peso banknote into circulation due to high inflation.

“The leadership of the Central Bank of Argentina has agreed to issue a new banknote with a face value of 2000 pesos. The design of banknotes will be dedicated to science and medicine,” the Argentine central bank said.

Currently in circulation in Argentina are banknotes of 1000, 500, 200, 100, 50, 20 and 10 pesos.

And due to the sharp rise in prices, which at the end of 2022 reached the level of 94.8%, the most common banknotes among Argentines are 500 and 1000 pesos.

Many citizens have long been talking about the need to introduce new denominations, such as 5,000 peso banknotes.
