The minutes stated that the closure case against the HDP was political, with lawyers calling attention to the “critical role that HDP plays in Turkish democracy”, noting that the case was a move by the Justice and Development Party to the government and its ally MHP to strengthen their “directives”. policies “.

In the meantime, the Public Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation, Bakir Shaheen, will present his opinion on the merits of the case to the Constitutional Court, and a report will be drawn up on the merits.

After distributing the report to the members of the Court, the closing of the party will be discussed, with the final decision taken by a majority of two thirds of the members of the Constitutional Court Committee of fifteen members.

Furthermore, the Constitutional Court can then order the definitive dissolution of the party or to deprive it in everything or in part of the assistance of the state treasury.

If the court decided to permanently dissolve the party, the people who according to the indictment would have caused the closure of the party (69 people who would have acted in criminal mode) will be banned from politics for five years and cannot be founders or members of any other party.
