The Conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement stressed in the Baku Declaration the importance of the role of the Non-Aligned Movement and the principles on which it is based in addressing new and in course to keep the pacesecurity and sustainable development, expressing the firm commitment of the network to the objectives and principles of the Non-Aligned Movement.
The Baku Declaration referred to the noble goal of the Non-Aligned Movement in order to support sustainable development and peaceful coexistence between countries, noting the main role played by the Non-Aligned Movement in gathering efforts to combat the Corona virus. and address the negative consequences of this epidemic through various initiatives that have received great international recognition and support. .
The Baku Declaration expressed deep concern that humanity is going through a difficult period, in which the international security system is in phase of testnoting the need, in light of current international conditions, to strengthen unity within the Non-Aligned Movement and increase its effectiveness, underlining the importance of providing parliamentary support to the activities of the Non-Aligned Movement in order to overcome the challenges The current international situation and in order to obtain solutions to various issues of great importance to the members of the movement.
In the Baku Declaration, parliamentarians from Non-Aligned Countries stressed the importance of gradually improving the institutional structure and organizational framework of the Non-Aligned Parliamentary Movement to ensure its operational effectiveness and cooperation among its members.
The Kingdom delegation attending the conference – led by His Excellency the President of the Shura Council, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al-Sheikh – includes Council Member Dr. Hattan Tamraz, Council Member Dr. Najwa Al-Ghamdi and a number of official advisers.
Interestingly, the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network was launched on the sidelines of the 143rd General Assembly of the Interparliamentary Union, and aims to provide a framework for cooperation and coordination between the parliaments of the member states of the Interparliamentary Union – Aligned Movement for the exchange of experiences, in as it includes among its members the parliaments of the countries of the Non-Aligned Movement With the participation of numerous international organizations, the Parliamentary Network forms four standing committees in different fields, namely, the Standing Committee on Political Matters, the Standing Committee on Economic Matters, the Standing Committee on Humanitarian and Social Matters and the Standing Committee on Settlements.
