Barcelona intend to appeal Lewandowski’s 3-match ban

Madrid: FC Barcelona intend to appeal the Spanish Football Federation’s decision to suspend its Polish star, Robert Lewandowski. Lewandowski was punished with a 3 match ban, in following his expulsion during the meeting of the Catalan team with its host Osasuna, in the Spanish football league. Lewandowski picked up two bookings in the first half of the match, which ended in Barcelona’s 2/1 win at El Sadar stadium on Tuesday, as the away team scored twice through Pedri and Rafinha, to overturn his 0 -1 and get the three points. And the Spanish Football Federation has decided to suspend Lewandowski for 3 matches after he disdained the match referee after showing him the red card in face. Lewandowski’s suspension means Barcelona will lose the services of the Spanish league’s top scorer in this season, with 13 goals, during matches between Espanyol, Atletico Madrid and Real Betis, which will take place after the end of the World Cup in Qatar, but the club Catalan will try to reduce the penalty. A statement of club it read: “FC Barcelona will raise the case to the appeals commission in light of the decision to suspend Robert Lewandowski for three meetings by the disciplinary commission.” Barcelona added: “The Polish striker has received a suspension after being sent off for a second appealable offense during the 2-1 win against Osasuna in Pamplona in the Spanish league.” Lewandowski is currently preparing to participate with the Polish national team in his second World Cup, as the team is due to start their campaign in Group C of the World Cup against Mexico next Tuesday.
