Barcelona names the legend of the club Xavi as the new coach

Madrid: Barcelona have announced the appointment of the former midfield legend club Xavi as the new technical director of the football team, having terminated his contract with the club Qatari Al Sadd. Xavi, 41, who has played 767 games for Barcelona and won 25 titles, including four in Champions League, replaces Dutch coach Ronald Koeman, sacked last week. The club he has declared in a note that Xavi will take on the role of manager for the remainder of the season in course, in addition to two other seasons. Xavi left Barcelona in 2015 to end his playing career in Qatar’s Al Sadd and has coached Al Sadd’s team since 2019, winning the Qatari League last season and several cups. Xavi was known as a great midfield playmaker, winning the European Championships with Spain in 2008 and 2012, as well as the World Cup in 2010. (dpa)
