BBC’s Rainsford could return if Russian journalists get UK visas – Ambassador

The Russian Ambassador in the UK, Andrei Kelin, has said that the treatment of Russian journalists in the UK is reason Sarah Rainsford of the BBC has been expelled from the country.

In this interview with The BBC’s Andrew Marr, he insists the BBC correspondent be allowed back to the country where she reported for years after British visas were issued to Russian reporters.

Sarah Rainsford was told she had been banned from Russia by the FSB’s security service in August and was labeled a ‘security threat’ – something she and the BBC deny.

The move comes during an unprecedented attack on rights and freedoms in Russia, where? critics of the Kremlin is increasingly labeled as hostile ‘agents’ of the West.
