Before the meeting between Egypt and Brazil unforgettable African achievements at the Olympics

The eyes of the Egyptians will go to Tokyo on Saturday to follow the expected match between the Pharaohs team and their Brazilian counterpart, in the quarter-finals of football competitions at the Olympics.

The confrontation is the third between the two teams in the history of the Olympic Games, after the first in Tokyo in 1964, which ended in a 1-1 draw, and the second in the London edition of 2012, where Egypt lost 2- 3.

The 2000 Olympics saw a second football gold for Africa, after Cameroon beat Spain in the final in one of the most important matches of this global sporting event.

The Spanish team managed to close the first half with a score of two goals a zero.

But in the second half, Cameroon managed to score two goals to adjust the result and regain the hope of winning the gold, led by the terrible duo Patrick Mboma and Samuel Eto’o.

With the draw still in extra time, the two teams resorted to penalties that smiled at Cameroon to win the gold medal.

Nigeria and Japan – Rio de Janeiro 2016
