Constant Reports to Putin

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday that the Defense Ministry, border guards, emergency services and local authorities are constantly reporting to President Vladimir Putin on the situation in the Belgorod region.

Heavy Shelling in Belgorod

The Belgorod region, which borders the Kharkiv region of Ukraine, has been subjected to heavy shelling in recent days.

Putin Informed on Necessary Assistance

Peskov told reporters: “Vladimir Putin, about the situation around Chebykino, constantly receives reports from the Ministry of Defense, the Border Service, the Federal Security Service, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and is also directly informed by the authorities regional and municipal of the district on measures to provide the necessary assistance to the population, including the provision of temporary housing for those who wish.

Town Targeted

A town in the Belgorod region has been targeted for hours with “continuous shelling”, resulting in injuries, according to the local governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, on Thursday.

No Ukrainian Pration

According to Gladkov, “the enemy has not prated the territory of the Belgorod region”, but “at the moment they are in ongoing mass attacks”.

Thus he denies the information broadcast by channels on the Telegram application on Thursday morning, according to which Ukrainian forces have achieved a “breakthrough” in the Belgorod region.

Russian Armed Forces Working

For its part, a cell set up by the region’s authorities said: “The situation in Chepkino is difficult in this moment. There are strikes and the sounds of clashes are heard”, underlining that “the Russian armed forces are doing their job, but there is no pration by the Ukrainian forces”.

Previous Incursion and Evacuation

Last week, the Belgorod region witnessed an armed incursion from Ukraine, which shocked Russia.

Since then, several areas in the sector adjacent to the border have come under heavy shelling with mortar, artillery and drone strikes, according to local authorities.

And the authorities announced on Wednesday that they had begun the evacuation of children from some border areas of Ukraine, which have been under intense shelling for days, warning of a “worsening of the situation”.

Gladkov said 200 people, including mothers with children, are expected to leave the Belgorod region on Thursday, and 600 people will be evacuated on Saturday in temporary housing in other Russian cities.
