US President Joe Biden warned Wednesday that the refusal of some Republican candidates to accept the midterm election results “paves the way for chaos.”
“There are candidates in competition for offices at all levels in America … who don’t commit to accepting the election results they are conducting, “Biden said in excerpts released by the White House from a speech he will deliver later Wednesday.
“Opens the way to chaos in America … which is unprecedented, illegal and un-American, “he added.
“As I said before, you cannot love your country only when you win,” added the Democratic president.
‘Not just any year’
“This is no ordinary year,” he added in his speech six days before the mid-term elections.
“In a normal year, we are not often faced with the question of whether the vote we cast will preserve democracy or make it in danger, “he said,” but that’s it quest’year”.
Election observers estimate that Democrats will lose a majority in the House of Representatives to Republicans on Tuesday, while their tenure in the Senate remains in doubt.
