Biden’s bid to host Asian summit in US is blocked

Neither Ardern nor the White House has identified which APEC member blocked the US bid to host the meeting, but one former U.S official said clues point to Russia as the likely suspect.

“APEC hosting requires the consensus of all 21 economies, and we thank the members for their strong support until now,” said a White House spokesperson, adding: one economy has not yet joined agreement.”
