President Biden underlined three messages: in his address to Americans on the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus:

The variant is a cause for concern, not a cause for panic.

“We have the best vaccine in the world, the best medicines, the best scientists, and we learn more every day,” he said Monday. “We will fight this variant with scientific and expert actions and speed, no chaos and confusion.”

The best protection against Omicron is the vaccine.

“L know you are tired of hear me say this, the best protection against this new variant of whatever of the variants out there, those die we have treated with already, will be fully vaccinated and given a booster injection,” he said.

if you are 18 years old of are older and fully vaccinated before June 1, get the booster shot today, he told Americans.

“They are free and they are available at 80,000 locations coast to coast,” he added. “Don’t wait. Get your booster when it’s time for you to do that.”

He also emphasized that children who are 5 years and older should be vaccinated.

As vaccines need to be updated until fight Omicron, the US will perform fast.

Scientists are currently race to determine of the existing vaccines provide enough protection against the Omicron variant. In case they don’t, Biden said the US will act fast until update his vaccine stock.

“In the event, hopefully unlikely, that updated vaccinations of boosters are needed to respond to this new variant, we speed up their development and commitment with each available tools,” he said.

“We do not yet believe that additional measures will be needed,” he says added. “But so that we are prepared, if necessary, my team is already working with officials at Pfizer and Moderna and Johnson & Johnson to develop contingency plans for vaccines of boosters if needed.”

“I will also instruct the FDA and the CDC to use the fastest process available without cutting all angles for safety to get such vaccines approved and on the market If necessary.”
