Bloomberg, citing informed sources, reported that the Saudi State Investment Fund is in talks with Boeing and Airbus E to buy about 80 aircraft.

The sources added that the requirements include narrow-body aircraft and larger wide-body models capable of flying long distances.

This is the first aircraft purchase for a new national airline.

Last year, Saudi Arabia said it would create a second national airline alongside the Saudi national carrier as part of its Vision 2030 plan to make the economy less dependent on oil, while the launch would primarily serve the capital Riyadh, which has have ambition.
