LONDON – BNP Paribas reported 26% per annum on Friday jump in net profit for the second quarter of this year, beating market expectations.
The French bank said this net income reached 2.9 billion euros (3.44 billion dollars) over the quarter ending in June. By comparison, analysts had aimed for € 2.24 billion net income, according to Refinitiv.
BNP Paribas stated that latest results benefited from a rebound in business activity, as economies eased some Covid-19 blocking measures.
As a result, internal markets division seen the revenues rising by almost 10% from a year does. The investment banking unit, on the other hand, recorded a decline of almost 10% in revenues.
Actions of BNP Paribas is up 21% year-to date.
