Bollywood Christmas Outings Over the Past Decade

Christmas is a festival which is not limited to certain countries or religions but which is celebrated all over the world. It is a time when people take a break from their routine life and spend quality time with loved ones. Movies have always been a major source of entertainment in India. Thus, during this festive season, the filmmakers treated the fans with great outings that they can enjoy with family and friends. With the release of Good Newwz, we have decided to compile a list of films that will be released in theaters during this festive season.

2019

Good newwz

Good Newwz is a comedy film starring a stellar cast of Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani. The dramatic comedy revolves around a mixture of sperm in a hospital which takes place thanks to a common surname shared by two couples. The distribution of the film has already excited people and the new concept means that the film almost guarantees a good start at the box office.

Dabangg 3

Over the years, Chulbul Panday has become an iconic character in Bollywood. His eccentric nature and badass attitude created a deep bond with the public. With Dabangg 3, Salman returned to his avatar. This time, he faced South Kicchaa superstar Sudeep. Although the film is only a few days old at the box office, it has already made big money.

2018

Zero

The Jab Tak Hai Jaan trio of Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif found Aanand L Rai’s Zero. In the film, Shah Rukh Khan played a self-absorbed dwarf man who understands the value of love in the crazy journey we witness in the film. Even if the film was very promising, a bad second half caused its failure at the box office.

2017

Tiger Zinda Hai

Tiger Zinda Hai was a sequel to the 2012 release of Ek Tha Tiger. Directed by Ali Abbas Zaffar, the film resumed where the first episode ended. Tiger (Salman Khan) and Zoya (Katrina Kaif), who have given up their lives as agents, return to the field to rescue Indian nurses held hostage by a terrorist organization. The film continued to be a huge box office success with total collections amounting to more than Rs. 300 crore.

2016

Dangal

Dangal was a film inspired by the Phogat family. The character of Aamir Khan in the film has always dreamed of winning gold for the struggling India. But, since he couldn’t do it himself, he helped his two daughters become world class wrestlers. Dangal holds the record for being the most profitable Bollywood film of all time.

2015

Bajirao Mastani

Bajirao Mastani was another Sanjay Leela Bhansali film that starred Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. The film also featured Priyanka Chopra in a lead role. Bajirao Mastani was a story of love and sacrifice that formed a deep bond with the audience.

Dilwale

DIlwale brought one of Bollywood’s most beloved couples, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, to the screen. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the film also starred Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon in lead roles. The film was a story of two lovers who are separated due to a misunderstanding but who are reunited thanks to their younger brothers and sisters. The film had a decent run at the box office.

PK

PK was a film based on a stranger who arrives on earth to study how we function as a society. He ends up losing the device he needs to get home and when he starts asking for help, he learns that God is someone who helps everyone. So he sets out to seek God but realizes that people are abusing this faith for their own benefit. PK reported more than 300 crores at the box office.

2013

Doom 3

Dhoom 3 was the third installment in the Dhoom series, one of the most popular franchises in Bollywood. The film has perpetuated the traditions of high-speed chases, big robberies and unexpected twists. Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif joined Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra in the cat and mouse game this time.

2012

Dabangg 2

Dabangg 2 was the second installment in the Dabangg franchise with Salman Khan back in his avatar Chulbul. In the film, Prakash Raj got into the shoes of Sonu Sood as a villain. People really like the character of Chulbul Pandey and this was also evident in the film’s box office collections.

2011

Gift 2

While Don: The Chase Begins was an official remake of the original with Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Farhan Akhtar decided to continue the franchise with Don 2. The sequel revolved around Don (Shah Rukh Khan) and his plan to steal currency printing plates from a bank in Germany.

2010

Maar Khan Tees

Tees Maar Khan was Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar’s first collaboration with Farah Khan. In the film, Akshay Kumar played a little time crook while Katrina Kaif played a Bollywood superstar and her love interest. Akshay plans to rob a village bank by acting as a filmmaker who has come to shoot there. Later, he realizes that the village was in serious condition and decides to help them instead. Tees Maar Khan performed poorly at the box office.
