Britain is on the verge of a new crisis. Food and fuel shortages

In a moment in facing growing problems due to shortages of drivers causing shortages in fuel supplies, the UK government plans to temporarily ease visa requirements in an effort to attract more foreign bus drivers.

Authorities can issue up to 5,000 temporary visas under a short-term program, according to reports media, in an estimated shortage of heavy truck drivers in 100,000.

Johnson is under increasing pressure to act, after the repercussions of the pandemic and Brexit have combined to exacerbate the driver shortage crisis, as well as other crises, including high energy prices.

In addition to threatening fuel supplies, the shortage of truckers has also hampered deliveries of food and other goods.

With the rows of auto in Waiting outside petrol stations, especially in south-east England, Johnson’s office confirmed over the weekend that the government was “considering temporary measures to avoid immediate problems.”

A Downing Street spokesperson said any measures would be “subject to a strict timetable”, noting that there are “sufficient supplies of fuel” and that “there is no shortage of quantities”. However, it seemed that the drivers had not been reassured on Saturday, in one moment in queues were forming in front of the stations.
