Bruno Tonioli: Strictly judge shares devastating impact of London floods on his street

Bruno Tonioli, 65, joined thousands of others sharing the devastating impact the extreme weather conditions have had on the streets of London on Sunday afternoon. Over the weekend, the UK was subjected to intense thunderstorms and torrential showers in some parts, with as many as eight tube stations having to close in the capital due to flooding.

It’s been reported across the east and north-east of the capital, with Clapham and Camberwell in the south of the city being among the worst affected areas.

Bruno shared a photo outside his window from his London home, calling for something to be done abut the roads flooding.

“Sutherland avenue #thameswater ⁦@thameswater @CityWestminster,” he penned on Twitter.

“Flooded 2 weeks ago it looks like it’s happening again unacceptable.”

Westminster Council responded to his tweet, saying: “Thanks @BrunoTonioli. We’re aware of the situation and we have City Inspectors on the way.”

All over the London people seemed to be pulling together to help get others put of harms way, as hero residents in Hackney Wick were filmed rescuing passengers from a stranded bus a crowds cheered.

The locals used an inflatable boat to vacate people from the vehicle to safety on Osborne Road in the north east of the city, each wearing black bin bags on their legs to protect themselves from the dirty water.

In other news, Bruno left viewers of his and fellow Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood’s new show Great British Road Trips, very much distracted as he whipped out a pair of speedos.

During the first episode which aired on Wednesday, the pair had reached their final destination – the historic seaside town of Penzance when they joined some locals for a dip.

“I’m not going in the cold water Craig, it’s not my thing. I’m going to sunbathe,” Bruno commented.

“But it would be nice, wouldn’t it? A bit of a swim,” Craig replied.

“Well you do that,” Bruno said. The two visited the Jubilee Pool, which is the UK’s largest lido, holding five million litres of unheated seawater.

“I don’t know how cold this water’s going to be,” Craig said, “I can’t make any promises.”

“Well there you go then,” Bruno said, removing his gown to reveal bright blue Speedos.
