Former President Donald Trump could face an unprecedented fourth indictment over his alleged efforts to overturn his loss in Georgia’s 2020 presidential election, and top Georgia election official Gabriel Sterling said Sunday that the criminal cases have been “giving oxygen” to Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign.

In an interview with ABC’s “This Week,” Gabriel Sterling, a Republican, emphasized that Trump’s claims of election fraud have been unsubstantiated. However, due to the strong loyalty within political parties in the United States, many of Trump’s supporters are inclined to believe him.

Sterling expressed concerns about the potential for violence, particularly in relation to the election. He had previously warned about the possibility of violence before the Capitol Hill riot on January 6, 2021. Sterling revealed that election-related violence continues to be his “biggest concern,” as individuals can become radicalized and may engage in harmful acts.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, in charge of the investigation in Georgia, is set to present her case to a grand jury in the upcoming week, according to NBC News. This presentation could lead to the indictment of Donald Trump on state charges connected to his attempts to prevent President Joe Biden from assuming office. If indicted, this would mark the fourth criminal case against Trump since March.

In his interview, Sterling discussed his involvement in the investigation. He testified before the special grand jury that initially looked into the case and participated in two interviews with the District Attorney’s officers. He emphasized his commitment to truthfulness and honesty in any future testimony.

According to CNN, prosecutors in Atlanta possess text messages and emails directly implicating members of Trump’s legal team in a voting system breach in Coffee County in January 2021. Allies of the former president allegedly attempted to access voting systems to find proof of election fraud, as part of a coordinated effort from the top-down by Trump’s team.

During a speech in New Hampshire, Trump mentioned that he anticipates being indicted in Georgia soon and stated, “I should have four by sometime next week.”
