North Korea Fires Cruise Missiles
Latest Missile Launch
North Korea has fired several cruise missiles towards the sea on the west of the Korean Peninsula, according to the South Korean military.
This comes as North Korea and the United States engage in a standoff over the country’s nuclear weapons and missile programs. On Wednesday, North Korea fired two ballistic missiles.
Timing of the Launch
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff reported multiple cruise missiles being launched since approximately 4 a.m. local time on Saturday.
The Wednesday missile launch by North Korea came just hours after a U.S. nuclear-armed ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) made a rare visit to South Korea.
Warning on U.S. Deployment
In addition, North Korea issued a warning on Thursday, stating that the deployment of U.S. aircraft carriers, bombers, or missile submarines in South Korea could meet criteria for its use of nuclear weapons.
