Military Officials Report Overnight Attack

Russian forces launched a drone attack on Kyiv and its surrounding region, marking the end of a 12-day break. Ukrainian military officials stated that all weapons approaching the area were destroyed by their air defense systems.

Details of the Attack

According to the country’s air force, the attack consisted of eight Iranian-made Shahed drones and three cruise missiles. Fortunately, all of them were successfully shot down.

Civilian Casualties and Damage

As a result of falling drone debris, three private houses in the Kyiv region were damaged, and one person was injured, confirmed Ruslan Kravchenko, the military head of the region, on his Facebook page.

Witnesses Report Blasts and Air Raid Alerts

Witnesses reported hearing blasts that resembled the sound of air defense systems hitting targets. The scale of the attack is currently unknown. Kyiv, its surrounding region, and several other regions in central and eastern Ukraine were under air raid alerts for approximately an hour starting from 2 a.m. local time (2300 GMT).
