Canadian Engineer Set to Replicate $5 Billion Moon Perched on Dubai Skyscraper

Canadian businessman unveils $5 billion “replica” of the moon

Michael Henderson, a Canadian entrepreneur, has revealed his plans to build a giant “replica” of the moon in Dubai, named simply MOON. The project includes a 4,000-room hotel resort, an arena, a “moon colony”, a nightclub and a health center. Henderson’s project will be one step ahead of the MSG Sphere, a dome covered in LED screens set to launch in Las Vegas this year. The MOON project will be placed on a 30-meter high building and will attract more than 2.5 million guests annually.

Moon’s Arrival on Earth

The MOON project was revealed by Michael Henderson at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai earlier this month. The $5 billion project will provide visitors with an experience of visiting the “moon” without leaving Earth. The project will be funded by Moon World Resorts Inc, which Henderson co-founded.

The Structure

The structure will be only 0.008% the size of the real Moon and will be 274 meters (900 feet) long atop a 30 meters (100 feet) high building. The project includes a resort inside a spherical structure, capable of accommodating 10,000 people. The MOON project will give guests the feeling of walking on the moon and will glitter at night as a full moon, half moon, or half moon.

Location

The MOON project proposed several locations, including the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building at 828 meters, which is located in Dubai. Others recommend it to be located in the Dubai Pearl, a skyscraper project that has been on hold since 2009 and is now due for demolition, close to the Palm Jumeirah and its unfinished sister project, Palm Jebel Ali.

Conclusion

The MOON project promises to be a new architectural marvel in Dubai, a city already known for iconic buildings such as the Burj Khalifa and the Palm Jumeirah. The project signals a growing trend in the hospitality industry to provide visitors with unique and memorable experiences.
