Car Pros Automotive Group Expands with Acquisition of Nick Alexander BMW and Mini Dealerships

Car Pros Automotive Group Expands with Luxury Dealership Acquisition

On August 21, Washington state’s Car Pros Automotive Group made a significant expansion by acquiring two luxury dealerships in Los Angeles. The group purchased Nick Alexander BMW and Nick Alexander Mini from the Alexander family, marking their entry into the luxury automotive market.

Car Pros CEO Matthew Phillips expressed the group’s interest in expanding into the luxury segment, particularly with a reputable brand like BMW. However, the decision to enter the luxury market was not solely driven by luxury itself but by the strategic value it offered.

The acquired dealerships have been rebranded as BMW of Downtown Los Angeles and Mini of Downtown Los Angeles. This acquisition also introduces the Mini brand to Car Pros. Additionally, the group gained a large collision center, its first of this kind.

Car Pros last purchased a dealership in November 2019, adding a Honda store in Southern California to its portfolio. The group had been actively seeking growth opportunities, but it was crucial for the acquisition to meet specific criteria. Phillips explained that they carefully evaluated potential deals based on the right OEM, location, and store size. All of Car Pros’ dealerships are high-volume operations, and the new acquisition had to align with their expertise and potential for high-volume sales.

In December, Car Pros sold a Volkswagen dealership also located in Southern California. The Alexander family’s transaction in Los Angeles was represented by Kerrigan Advisors, a sell-side firm based in Incline Village, Nevada.

Renton, Washington-based Car Pros is ranked at No. 45 on Automotive News’ list of the top 150 dealership groups in the United States. Their retail performance in 2022 included selling 17,936 new vehicles.
