Carol Kirkwood apologises to BBC Breakfast viewers for sparking weather confusion

Carol Kirkwood, 58, left a fair few viewers confused on Monday’s BBC Breakfast after they mistook her Portugal weather forecast for that of the UK. The optimists looked forward to bright sunny days filled with warmth but alas, the Algarve is far from the miserable British weather we seem to be stuck with.

Sorry about that!

During her forecast, the meteorologist spoke of “unbroken sunshine” for those lucky enough to be going on their holidays to Portugal now coronavirus rules allow travellers to vacate overseas to Europe.

BBC host Louise Minchin introduced the presenter, saying: “Carol’s going to have the weather for not just us, but those lucky people who are on their way to Portugal as well.”

Carol beamed as she gushed over “a lot of dry weather and a lot of sunshine” splashing across the Algarve.

“17 degrees (Celsius) in Faro at the moment – we’d be lucky to see that anywhere in the UK today!” she joked.
