Carol Kirkwood sends warning to BBC colleague after show mistake: 'Not got the hang of it'

Carol Kirkwood, 59, couldn’t keep a straight face as she noticed her BBC Breakfast colleague hadn’t got the hang of prepping the on-location set for her morning weather reports. The forecaster was broadcasting live from The Queen’s Club in West London, but she was distracted by what was going on behind the camera.

Taking to Twitter, she shared a photo of her view of the production team, which portrayed her skilled cameraman and BBC journalist and producer, Gillian Robinson.

Gilly, as Carol refers to her pal as, looked like she was having a whale of a time as she posed with one leg in the air, holding the light reflector.

But the weather presenter admitted sadly, she wasn’t doing it properly.

“Gilly @bbcbreakfastdog hasn’t quite got the hang of holding the reflector,” she laughed.

“It’s not a beachball GG!!!”

Fans rushed to the comments section to get in on the laughs, as one joked: “You did look a little too white this morning around 7.30 beautiful lady.”

Carol was quick to reply with a stream of laughing faces, blaming the reflection on Gilly’s poor work.

Another viewer giggled: “Gilly clearly missing her days as a Can-Can girl!”

After the shenanigans were out the way, the meteorologist continued with her report but accidentally made a mistake live on-air while talking about professional tennis player, Sir Andy Murray.

While chatting with the club’s media director David Law, Carol made the blunder as she referred to Andy’s “back” issue, as opposed to his hip, which he has previously had surgery on.

She began: “The other thing of course is Andy Murray is back, and he’s had his problems with some of his back, how do you think he’ll perform?”

“Well he’s had all sorts of problems if you think over the last few years,” David replied.

“He’s had his hip surgery and two years ago he managed to get out on the doubles court with his hip resurfacing.

“His metal hip, effectively, and still win the doubles.”

Speaking about Andy’s return to tennis tomorrow, he continued: “People are so happy just to see him back, because he’s usually popular as a person and as a player.”

Carol then backtracked as she realised her mistake, clarifying: “And I’ve just said he had problems with his back, I meant his hip of course.”

She and David laughed at the error together, before he said, “He’s had that as well, not to worry.”

Andy lost the Wimbledon quarter-finals in 2017 and took the rest of the season off.

The Grand Slam champion had endured hip pain for a number of years, he had even struggled with regular day to day activities including walking his dogs.
