Countdown star Carol Vorderman, 60, has taken to social media to hit back at claims that she’s planning to retire from TV work after a hectic schedule last year. The mathematician took to Twitter where she said that working flat out throughout lockdown has made her want to “cut back” and prioritise her health, after suffering from burnout at the end of last year.

Retweeting the claims, the media personality cleared up any confusion about her TV career.
The author clarified where she stood on the job front, as she addressed claims that she’s “considering retiring her TV career”.
“Not entirely the whole story….just lockdown has made me want to cut back….foot off the pedal a bit…..you haven’t got rid of me just yet”, she wrote alongside laughing face emojis.
Speaking to The Mirror, the star had candidly revealed that she’s not fussed about appearing on TV at the moment.

She admitted: “I’m not that bothered about being on the telly any more.”
Carol went on to reveal that she had suffered from burnout after a gruelling work schedule last year, which saw her health suffer as a consequence by Christmas.
The mathematician said: “I worked my butt off last year and I don’t want to do it any more.
“I found lockdown difficult – like everybody. By last Christmas I was bloated and not well. Tired beyond tired, and I was finding filming not pleasant.”

She went on to add that her health is now her priority and refuses to overcommit to work.
“I’m just not doing that any more. I don’t see the point”, she said.
“I’m going to concentrate on my health, so that’s what I’ve been doing”, Carol added.

Carol’s TV career spans nearly three decades from when she starred as a co-host on game show Countdown from 1982 to 2008.
She has also had brief stints as a presenter on ITV’s Loose Women and Lorraine, as well as competing on shows including Strictly Come Dancing and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
Following Carol’s announcement on Twitter, fans commented in the thread with their opinions on Carol’s TV career.
