CDC expands Covid-19 recall advice in half to Omicron scare

The American centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has encouraged all American adults to take a booster dose of the vaccine against Covid-19 citing “greater transmissibility” of the Omicron variant of the virus.

Urging all Americans to take a booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, the CDC expanded on its previous recommendation which only affected people aged 50 and over, and people life in long-term care facilities.

Earlier this month, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) made all adults in the United States eligible for booster shots, but stopped abruptly of openly recommending extra doses.

The new The Covid-19 strain – known as B.1.1.529 or Omicron – has sparked panic globally, amid concerns that it could make existing vaccines much less effective or completely useless. The variant, which is marked by 32 mutations of the spike protein, it has spread beyond southern Africa and has already triggered a wave of travel bans around world.
