Chelsea president resigns after 19 years in load


LONDON: Chelsea announced on Monday that the president of the club Bruce Buck will step down at the end of June after 19 years of work. Chelsea added that US attorney Buck, appointed in 2003 when former owner Roman Abramovich bought the clubwill remain consultant senior after June 30th. A consortium led by Todd Boley and Clearlake Capital acquired Chelsea in May after Abramovich put in sale on club in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Buck stated in a statement: “I am proud to have helped Chelsea achieve great success in field, as well as leaving a positive mark on the surrounding community. It is the right time to step down and allow the new owners to build on the solid foundations we have laid ”. He added: “The new owners have a compelling vision for Chelsea’s future and I look forward to helping them achieve this through the new role I will play alongside our fantastic team, players, coaches and fans.” Buck, in as president of the funds of the Chelsea Foundation, he received the temporary supervision of the club before the British government imposed sanctions on Abramovich in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The 74-year-old led Chelsea to great successes for the men’s and women’s teams. “Bruce has taken Chelsea FC to the highest levels of international and national football, while also developing one of the most active social responsibility projects in sport,” said Polly.
