In sharp contrast, Chicago quarterback Andy Dalton endured a tough first outing for to be new team, with the former Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys QB fired three times and picked off once.
Chicago did find some joy though on the ground, David Montgomery top 100 yards rush once and find the end zone – net as rookie QB Justin Fields – but despite controlling the time of possession, the bears hardly threatened to come back in every stage.
- Fit: Andy Dalton, 27/38, 206 yards, 1 INT
- Rushing: David Montgomery, 16 bears, 108 yards, 1 TD
- Recipient: Marquise Goodwin, four catches, 45 yards

- Hurry: Darrell Henderson, 16 bears, 70 yards, 1 TD
- Receiving: Cooper Kupp, seven catches, 108 yards, 1 TD
This one belonged to Stafford. It was a statement performance By the signal-caller on debut. And, given the distance given up by the Rams to get their man this off-season – a package met steering Jared Goff, a 2021 third-round pick and two first-round chooses in 2022 and 2023 to Detroit – on this proof, it was a move than justified move.
He has some array of weapons to spread the ball to, but Kupp already seems to be a particular favorite, with the couple shows a good understanding between one another. In the meantime, on defense, Aaron Donald again had a very disturbing game in leading a drawer defensive front that consistently harassed Dalton.
Montgomery was a bright spark for the bears though with are 108 yards off just 16 carries all more impressive considering the savage defense he was facing.
