China is moving closer to Taiwan . and offers to work with Washington to resolve differences

The Chinese army is conducting military exercises near Taiwan, in response to a visit by a United States Congressional delegation to the island, in one moment in which Beijing has confirmed its willingness to work with Washington to “manage differences”.

The Chinese Defense Ministry said in a statement released Tuesday that exercises in the Taiwan Strait region are a “necessary measure to safeguard national sovereignty.” The statement did not mention the timing of the maneuvers, the participating forces and their exact location.

The statement added that the “Combined War Preparation Patrol” led by the Chinese Army’s “Eastern Theater Command” was motivated by the “wrong words and deeds of the countries concerned on the Taiwan issue” and the actions of those who have supported the independence of the autonomous island.

“In accordance with the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, China is willing to work with the United States to strengthen trade and cooperation in all fields and jointly address regional and international issues as well as global challenges, “Xi Jinping said in a congratulatory message to the National Commission for US-China Relations. .

He stressed the need to “adequately manage differences in order to bring relations between China and the United States back on the right path for solid and constant development”.
