Customs data revealed today, Wednesday, that Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest oil exporter, maintained its position as China’s top crude oil supplier for the tenth month of September and increased supplies by 2%. every year.

Saudi shipments totaled 7.96 million tons, or 1.94 million barrels per day, according to data from the General Administration of Chinese Customs.

This means an increase from 1.89 million barrels per day in September last year and just under 1.96 million barrels per day in August.

Shipments from Russia, the second largest supplier of crude oil to China, fell 18% year-on-year to 6.14 million tons, or 1.49 million barrels per day, last month, up from 1.59 million. barrels per day in August.

The drop in the volumes of shipments from the two suppliers in September comes in one moment in which Chinese crude oil imports fell 15.3% last month year-on-year as companies consumed inventories due to higher international prices and lower import quotas, which led to a decrease of purchases.

Imports from Brazil fell by 64% compared to a year ago, while they fell 83% from the United States.

Official data consistently reveals that China has not imported oil from Iran and Venezuela since early 2021.
