“Civil Aviation” prepares airports to serve the 2022 Saudi Dakar Rally

The General Civil Aviation Authority has set up Kingdom airports to serve the Saudi Dakar Rally 2022 AD, organized by the Ministry of Sport, under the supervision and follow-up of the Saudi Automobile Federation, through a series of services within the airports.

The services provided were the preparation of reception platforms, the facilitation of arrival and departure procedures, the supply of platforms for the finalization of travel procedures and the organization of the operation of 15 helicopters registered with the Helicopter Aircraft Company, of including 10 locally registered and 5 foreign helicopters, plus licensing of 6 winged aircraft for air support purposes such as medical evacuation and pass of communication.

The authority has used its capabilities to equip platforms and service facilities, provide all the facilities they need in coordination with the competent authorities and providing authorizations for organizers, operators and participants through the airports concerned, as well as issuing 3 guides (requirements for the rally license, refueling outside the airports and the management of dust generated by the verticality of the fans).

The authority has also issued permits for the use of a number of airports and entry permits for aircraft, as well as coordinating with the Saudi Air Navigation Services Company to organize air traffic for Dakar Rally operations.

The Saudi Dakar Rally 2022 AD is an extension of the previous editions of the 44th rally, which is the third consecutive edition hosted by the Kingdom, having hosted the 2020 and 2021 editions. (70) nationalities from all over the world, making it the largest edition in terms of participation in the history of the rally.
