Close relations for the security and stability of the region at the Jeddah Security and Development Summit

The close relations between the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the United States of America contribute to the achievement of security and stability in the region and to the strengthening of the political, economic, trade and investment tracks.

The Jeddah Summit for Security and Development takes place during the visit of His Excellency President Joseph Biden, President of the United States of America, which brings together the leaders of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, in addition to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Iraq, with the United States of America, underlining the role of the United States of America The first Kingdom and its Arab, Islamic and international weight and position, sensing its economic weight global, and on the basis of its resulting regional and international responsibility and its fundamental role in the security and stability of the region.

The response of the leaders of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf to the kind invitation of the Guardian of the Two Sacred Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God protect him – confirms the common vision of a region of pace and stability, the importance of commitment to the region’s security, defense and cooperation in safety and the protection of maritime routes according to the principles of international legitimacy.

The summit aims to confirm the historic partnership between the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, deepen joint cooperation in various fields and emphasize the importance of developing complementary cooperation modes with each other, building joint projects that contribute to achieving sustainable development in the region, collectively address environmental challenges and tackle climate change, including: These are the Green Saudi initiatives and Green Middle East, announced by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, and the development of renewable energy sources, praising the electricity interconnection agreements between the GCC countries and the ‘Iraq.

The summit stresses the importance of close cooperation and common views on a range of issues and situations in the region, including affirming the position of the GCC states in supporting the two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in compliance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Initiative of pace Arab, which condemns the Houthi terrorist attacks against civilians, dignitaries and energy facilities and welcomes the formation of the Council The Yemeni presidential leadership, support for the negotiated solution between the Yemeni government and the Houthis, welcoming and extending the truce , and the importance of the commitment to continue supporting the humanitarian and relief needs of the Yemeni people.

It also stresses the prevention of the spread of weapons of mass destruction in the region, calling on Iran to return to its nuclear commitments, full cooperation with the Atomic Energy Agency, respect for good neighborly rules, mutual respect and non-interference in business and positive cooperation with the countries of the region and the international community, in so as to preserve regional security and stability, and the international community, as well as support for Iraq’s security, stability and well-being, and support for political solutions to all crises in the region, in compliance with relevant UN resolutions and principles, the importance of Lebanon’s stability and the independence of its political decision and support for the security and stability of Afghanistan and its non-transformation in a safe haven for terrorists and extremists. As regards the crisis between Russia and Ukraine, the summit is configured as an affirmation of commitment to the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter, respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, non-use or threat of force, support for mediation efforts, encouragement of a political solution to the crisis through negotiations, support for the provision of humanitarian and relief assistance, and support for efforts to ensure the availability of food and energy.
