Phillip Schofield misses out on LGBTQIA Champion Award

Schofield not present at Bank of London Rainbow Honours

Phillip Schofield was nominated for the Celebrity LGBTQIA Champion Award at the Bank of London Rainbow Honours 2023.

However, on Wednesday night, the This Morning presenter was nowhere to be seen when Dame Kelly Holmes picked up the gong.

As well as Phillip, Kelly beat the likes of Rylan, Graham Norton, Adele Roberts and Tom Daley to win the award.

The awards celebrate celebrity figures and other activists who have worked to advance the rights of LGBTQ+ people over the last year.

It is not clear whether Phillip had ever planned to attend. Graham, Rylan, Adele and Tom were also absent.

Other winners at the awards

Elsewhere in the awards, Sam Smith was crowned Musician of the Year and Nicola Sturgeon received the Celebrity Ally Award.

It comes amid the ongoing speculation about Phillip’s future on This Morning after reports that he has drifted apart from his co-star Holly Willoughby.

The 61-year-old is allegedly rejecting calls to exit the show despite his declining popularity with viewers.

ITV bosses were reportedly left cringing after Holly and Phil were mocked in the House of Commons by deputy prime minister, Oliver Dowden.

Phillip’s future on This Morning uncertain

The MP described Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner as “the Phil and Holly of British politics”.

He joked: “All lovey dovey on the surface, they turn it on for the cameras, but as soon as they’re off, it’s a different story. They’re at each other’s throats.”

One ITV insider later told MailOnline: “You know things have got really serious when they’re mentioned in the House of Commons. This is no longer just a bit of beef on Twitter.

“Those upstairs know they have to act – they just don’t know what to do.”

Meanwhile, another source told the publication that Phil “doesn’t see why he should go”.

“It’s his job, he has steered the show for more than 20 years,” they added.

It was previously speculated that Alison Hammond could take over from Phil and present alongside Holly for the rest of the week.
