Hollie Doyle warmed up for her Cazoo Oaks ride on Sherbet Lemon with a clear-cut success aboard Corazon Espinado in the Coral ‘Beaten By A Length’ Free Bet Handicap.
The six-year-old is trained locally by Simon Dow and was prominent throughout, settling on the heels of pace-setter Overwrite in the extended mile heat.
The pair had built up a decent advantage by the time the field hit the straight, but Corazon Espinado fairly sprinted home for Doyle, leaving Overwrite in his wake.
Hortzadar went out in pursuit, but 12-1 chance Corazon Espindao had flown, with Plantadream keeping on for third.
Doyle said: “It was an incredible performance really. It’s his maximum trip probably.
“He was quite keen early on – but I just wanted to fill up, fill up for as long as I could, and he’s seen it out well.
“It is (something special). Like Simon says, he’s so track dependent – most of his form is around here and Lingfield, and I think he’s just really pleased to be back at Epsom today with a crowd.”
