Coronation Street star forsakes stardom in a TV soap for making award-winning cheese content

Sean Wilson, best known for his 20-year turn as Martin Platt on Coronation Street, has found a post-soap career as a cheese maker. Wilson left the TV show in 2005 after he refused to go through with a storyline which saw his character start a relationship with a teenage girl, and took up an invitation from Michelin-starred chef Nigel Haworth to learn about food. After meeting Bob Kitching, who was producing Lancashire cheese by hand, Wilson became a cheese-maker. His company, Artisan Farm, has struggled due to the doubling in the price of milk since 2016.
