Cyberpunk 2077 DLC Release: Discover the Exciting New Features and Free Update

Cyberpunk 2077 is hosting very soon son DLCs

Byline:

Among the big releases of September 2023, there is Starfield of course, but there is also the Cyberpunk 2077 DLC. After having suffered a more than chaotic start, CD Projekt’s FPS has gradually regained the hair of the beast and accumulated a certain hype (notably thanks to the Netflix series Edgerunners) until unveiling the new features that would accompany the release of this famous DLC called Phantom Liberty.

As a reminder, Phantom Liberty will notably allow Cyberpunk 2077 players to discover a whole new story arc taking place in the middle of Dogtown, a particularly dangerous district of Night City. The latter will notably revolve around the rescue of the president of the NUSA, and the player will even have the opportunity to meet Solomon Reed, a new character played by none other thanIdris Elba.

But in addition to the new features exclusive to the expansion, the release of Phantom Liberty will also be accompanied by a big free update for all Cyberpunk 2077 players that is likely to change your in-game experience quite a bit. Among the improvements of the latter, on retains, for example, an overhaul of the artificial intelligence (in particular that of the police), the addition of vehicle combat and a completely renewed skill tree. If theon it is not yet known when this update will be available, it should at least arrive before the DLC which is scheduled for release on September 26 next.

The development of the next The Witcher will accelerate

Before experiencing the turmoil of gamers and press when Cyberpunk 2077 was released, CD Projekt was best known for developing the excellent The Witcher trilogy, the third installment of which was released in 2015. If a large part of fans waited impatiently to know what this studio would be able to do outside of this license, others would have preferred to see them continue on the same path to continue hunting monsters with a silver blade. Fortunately for them, the development of the next episode of the saga The Witcher is about to pick up speed soon.

In any case, this was revealed by the president of CD Projekt Adam Kicinski during a presentation of his firm’s balance sheet available at public on . During the latter, he notably confirmed that more and more employees were transferred to the development of the next The Witcher, of which we only know the code name (Polaris) at the moment. According to him, there are currently around 250 developers in the team responsible for creating Polaris, against even more in that dedicated to Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. An equation that may change once the DLC is released:

As you will have understood, as soon as the Cyberpunk 2077 DLC is released, the teams dedicated to the development of the next The Witcher may receive reinforcements. Be careful though, Adam Kiciński made it clear that the entire Phantom Liberty team would not end up integrating that of Polaris. Indeed, he also mentioned the Orion and Hadar projects, which respectively correspond to the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 and to a brand new license that is still unknown. Don’t rejoice too quickly, these two projects are certainly still at a very early stage and should not be revealed more for several years.

As a reminder, Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty is expected on PC, Playstation 5 and Xbox Series from September 26th.
