In two days, the White Sox’s rotation has gone from suspicious to possibly second best team in AL Central.
The main reason is the team’s agreement on Saturday with a three-year, $ 55.5 million contract with left-handed free agent Dallas Keuchel. Keuchel’s addition comes a day after Sox free agent Gio Gonzalez signed a one-year deal that also includes a 202 option. Keuchel’s deal reportedly includes a $ 18.5 million venture. for 2023.

Chicago will begin in 2020 with Keuchel, 2019 star Lucas Giolito, Gonzalez and right-hander Reynaldo Lopez and Dylan Cease as the top five. Even if you take out Lopez and Cease, who posted an ERA of 5.38 and 5.79 respectively last year, Chicago’s top three stacks are favored by top three quarterbacks John Barrion, Jake Ondorizi and Michael Pinte.
The Sox rotation continues to follow the Indians, though Cleveland traded former ace Corey Kluber earlier in December. The race boasts Mike Clevinger (another commercial target), Shane Bieber, Zach Plesac, Adam Plutko and Aaron Civale. Plutko’s 97 ERA + was the worst of the team in 2019.
Keuchel, who will turn 32 on Jan. 1, helped fill a need in the Braves’ rotation last season after signing up for a $ 20million-a-year deal with the club in June. It ended with $ 13 million with Atlanta. Keuchel recorded a 3.75 ERA (4.72 FIP) in 19 starts for the National League East champions. He also made two starts in the Braves’ NLDS against the Cardinals, but made just eight appearances.
Adding him to the South Siders is also another clear sign that the White Sox believe their brawl has opened. Chicago has added waterfall Yasmani Grandal (free agent) and right-hander Nomar Mazara (trade) this off-season to complement Yoan Moncada, Eloy Jimenez, Tim Anderson and Jose Abreu in the lineup. Chicago also has great prospects Luis Robert (center field) and Nick Madrigal (second base) waiting in the wings.
