Dan Walker inundated with support as host speaks on devastating loss 'He will be missed'

Dan Walker, 44, took to Twitter and shared a touching tribute to his former colleague Dominic Busby, also known as Dom, following his death. The BBC Breakfast presenter said the radio broadcaster will be “truly missed” as he addressed the “sad news”.

The former Football Focus presenter praised Dom for his “wonderful voice” and for always being “kind”.

The BBC Radio 2, 4 and 5 Live presenter died after suffering a short illness.

In view of his 712,000 followers, Dan penned: “Incredibly sad news about the death of Dom Busby.

“Wonderful voice, great broadcaster but the way he treated others stood out. Always kind, always friendly… always stopped for a chat.

The Breakfast presenter accompanied the post with an article that confirmed the tragic news.

Fans swiftly commented on the emotional tribute, as many offered their condolences.

Many of the late broadcaster’s friends and colleagues have flocked to social media to offer their condolences.

Taking to the micro-blogging site, Mike [MIKE WHO] wrote: “Such heartbreaking news about our wonderful friend/colleague #dombusby.

“I first worked with Dom at @BBCRadioSolent in 90s, we were like two cheeky schoolboys.

BBC weather presenter Simon King described his colleague as “one of the nicest” men he had met.

The presenter’s death was announced on BBC Radio 5 Live this morning by Shourjo Sarkar, who said his thoughts were with Dom’s family.

The broadcaster first began his BBC career at Radio York.

He has since gone to present on Radio Sussex, Radio 5 Live, Radio 2 and 4.

Back in March, Dom shared a selfie with fans and told them he was back after taking his first-ever day off, due to an illness.

His final Twitter post was on April 10, when he tweeted about the snow in Harrogate.

BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One at 6am.
