It’s been over 15 years since Daniel Craig was cast as James Bond in Casino Royale. And now in a brand new documentary on his 007 era, the outgoing star of No Time To Die has shared how he celebrated the news. Bond producer Barbara Broccoli phoned him up and said, “Over to you kiddo”, after which Craig grabbed himself a bottle of vodka and vermouth.
Speaking in Being James Bond: The Daniel Craig Story, the 53-year-old star said: “[I] bought a cocktail shaker and went back to my apartment and started mixing myself vodka martinis.”
Bond producer Michael G Wilson joked, “That was the first bit of training”, while Craig added, “I think I had a hangover for like three days.”
The next day the new Bond went to meet his personal trainer Simon Waterson with a huge hangover.
Craig said of his personal trainer: “That was his first memory of me! Smoking a cigarette and eating a bacon sandwich.”

The new Bond said to Waterson: “I want to change… and it was seven days a week from then on.”
Craig took the physical aspect of the role very seriously, do many of his own stunts in his 007 movies.
However, this would all take its toll after he broke his leg on his fourth outing Spectre.
Rather than taking around nine months to recover from his injury, Craig refused to shut down production.

Instead, Spectre’s opening scene in Mexico City’s Day of the Dead festivities was redesigned.
Originally a chase was planned but this was replaced with more of a stealth-like walk across buildings and through crowds, which ended up working really well.
