As a reminder, on January 1, 2023, Apple will terminate Dark Sky. In September, the well-liked weather app was already removed from the App Store. For current users, it will no longer work as of tomorrow.
The pre-installed Weather app on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac now includes many features from Dark Sky, which Apple acquired in March 2020. The Weather app now offers “hyperlocal” forecasts, such as next-hour precipitation, hourly forecasts for the next ten days, high-resolution radar maps, and severe weather notifications. Apple shared a support document with instructions on how Dark Sky users can use the Weather app earlier this month.
Your device must be upgraded to iOS 16, iPadOS 16, or macOS Ventura to access the Dark Sky capabilities in the Weather app. As stated in a different Apple support article, some functions are restricted to a few nations.
On March 31, 2023, Apple will replace the Dark Sky API for third-party weather apps with its WeatherKit API.
