Demonstrations in Sudan reveal the cracks in the government . Who is against whom ?!

Today, Saturday, thousands of demonstrators from the pro-Sudanese army gathered in front of the presidential palace in the capital, Khartoum, chanting: “Down with the hunger government”.

They also called for the dissolution of the government and the expansion of participation to include all the forces of the revolution, in one moment in which Sudan is facing the biggest political crisis in its two-year transition period.

As for the organizer of these protests, it is a group of what is known as the “Charter for National Accord with the Forces of Freedom and Change” or “Reforming Wing of the Forces of Freedom and Change” , which split from the “Freedom and Change” center, which is seen as a political incubator for the government.

Representatives in the government

Perhaps the most notable irony is that those forces whose supporters have now descended in square, under the slogan of “claim the revolution” and dissolve the government, accusing it of failing to put an end to the country’s political and economic crisis, participate through representatives and ministers in it!

At their head are the head of the Movement for Justice and Equality, Jibril Ibrahim, who holds the position of Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, as well as Mineral Minister Muhammad Bashir Abu Nam, Minister of Social Welfare Ahmed Adam Bakheet, as well as Federal Government Minister Buthaina Ibrahim Dinar, Sudanese Mineral Resources Company Director Mubarak Ardol and Darfur Region Governor Min Arko Minawi, who is the head of the Sudan Liberation Army Movement.

On the other hand, the group of the Central Council of the forces of freedom and change has called for a boycott of today’s demonstrations and departure next Thursday.

This group also participates with a number of ministers in the executive government led by Abdullah Hamdok, led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Maryam Al-Sadiq, Minister of Industry Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, in addition to Minister of Culture and Information Hamza Balloul, cabinet affairs minister Khaled Omar, as well as the governor of the state of Khartoum Ayman Nimer. , and members of the Sovereignty Council, Muhammad Al-Faki and Al-Hadi Idris.

Interestingly, the two groups split after the Central Council group signed a political declaration on September 8, which was rejected by the Charter group, or what is known as the reform wing.

These moves come in one moment in referred to the political scene in Sudan is witnessing a sharp division between the components of the transitional government, following the attempted coup that was foiled last month (September), as a result of which media exchanges between the civilian and military components have intensified, so much so that the Sovereignty Council and joint meetings with the Council of Ministers have ceased.

While Hamdok, in a speech to the Sudanese people last night, recognized “deep divisions between civilians and between civilians and military”, underlining that “the conflict is not between civilians and military, but rather between the field of civil democratic transition and the field of coup against the Revolution”.

He also considered that Sudan is going through “the worst and most dangerous crisis” it has faced since the overthrow of the regime of ousted President Omar al-Bashir, stressing that it “threatens the whole country and portends a great evil”.
