Denmark snatches a thrilling victory from Austria in the European Nations League

Vienna: The Danish team snatched a thrilling victory from their Austrian 2/1 host on Monday night in the second round of the first tier Group A matches of the European Football League. And the first half ended with the Danish team advancing with a goal scored by Pierre-Emile Hobjerg, Tottenham midfielder, in the 28th minute. In the second half, German midfielder Xavier Schlager equalized for Austria in the 67th minute. But six minutes from the end of the match, Jens Stryger Larsen, Udinese’s Italian defender, snatched the winning goal from Denmark. Denmark leads the group with six points, while Austria stops at three points in second place. The match was postponed for over an hour due to a power outage at the Ernst Happel stadium in the Austrian capital Vienna. The Austrian Football Association said the match started an hour and a half after the original time, until the error was resolved. Interestingly, the Austrian side won their first match at the expense of host Croatia 3-0 and Denmark beat host France 2-1. (Dpa)
