Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris rewards this week: Bungie Loot report

Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris continues to shake things up this week after Bungie made significant changes to how rewards are earned.

As gamers who logged in last week know, the weekly three, five, and seven-win challenges have been replaced with a new win rounds challenge.

The one thing that hasn’t changed is that the Trials of Osiris will be kicking off at the same time, at 6pm BST, on September 17.

The Crucible event will be live until September 21, when the weekly reset will shut down the Trials for a few days.

However, Bungie has also confirmed a new seven-win challenge will be available from Saint-14, providing Adept Flawless loot.

Guardians will also notice that Reputation gain per match has been scaled by the number of round wins on a ticket and that Trials passages are now account scoped, meaning that if you purchase the same ticket on an alternate character, this will not reset ticket wins.

As an example, these are the rewards and loot packages available last week:

  • Reputation Rank 4: Upgrade Module
  • Reputation Rank 7: Enhancement Prism
  • Reputation Rank 10: Eye of Sol Legendary Sniper Rifle
  • Reputation Rank 13: Upgrade Module
  • Reputation Rank 16: Igneous Hammer Hand Cannon
  • Flawless Reward: Shayura’s Wrath Adept SMG

And with Trials Reputation now unlocking Trials engrams and other rewards via Saint-14 through a given Season, Bungie is making further changes this week.

This time around, Bungie is looking to tweak how matchmaking works when it comes to the latter stages of the event.

The latest from the Destiny 2 development team explains: “We aren’t satisfied with the matchmaking experience for players after seven wins. That area of matchmaking has a significantly higher rate of 5-0 games than we would like, so we are enabling a ‘flawless matchmaking’ pool.

“However, we want to make sure that there are enough flawless players to maintain good matchmaking times – so we are waiting until Friday afternoon to turn this on, and we will be watching player reactions and matchmaking analytics all weekend to make sure it is behaving properly.

“We are also not happy with the experience of players who have a bad streak of getting repeatedly thrashed 5-0, so we are enabling some matchmaking help if someone runs into several blowout matches.

“This temporary help mechanic clears up once they start winning again, so don’t think someone will cheese a flawless by tanking for a few games and then have a weekend of smooth sailing.

“Lastly, we are enabling the quitter penalties that we use on the Glory playlists – giving you a 30-minute timeout if you quit out of too many games. We are going to be watching this, and have some harsher plans if players continue to abandon their fireteams.”

Bungie has also confirmed that they have reduced the round time to 90 seconds, with each round starting with fresh special ammo.

Cross Play must be enabled to participate in Trials of Osiris, which also requires the purchase of the current yearly expansion.
