Our investigation and testing continues. To set expectations, this issue will not be resolved tonight.
We are estimating a timeline of 3-4 AM PST tomorrow, January 25, for our fix to get deployed. Timeline subject to change.
More info will be provided once available.

As the evening progressed, it became increasingly apparent that this issue would not be resolved tonight. According to the Bungie Help Twitter account, the issue is expected to be resolved in the early hours of Thursday (Pacific Time), but I wouldn’t set your watch by that just yet. This is hardly the first setback in the game’s history, but it feels significant.
As of 7 p.m. PT, the game remains unavailable, and Bungie says this will continue “throughout the evening.” I correctly predicted that a complete rollback of player accounts would be required, so it’s bad news if you managed to drop Hierarchy of Needs during the brief time the game was live before the issue was discovered. I’ll provide another update once Destiny 2 is live.
We are testing a fix. Once testing is complete, we will deploy and verify the fix before bringing Destiny 2 back online.
We will also be rolling back all player accounts to their state as of 8:20 AM PST, prior to Hotfix 6.3.0.5 going live.
Standby for timeline updates.

As you might expect, the more uncommon ones carry a moderate degree of prestige or at least grudging respect in the case of the lunatics who truly earned the ‘Reckoner’ title from the Gambit mode. As a result, there was not a small amount of consternation(opens in new tab) today when players signed in after applying hotfix 6.3.0.5 and saw that some of their titles were missing.
It appears that some triumphs previously listed as full are no longer checked or are incomplete, meaning that the appropriate title can no longer be assigned to their toons. Bungie has recognized the issue and noted that progress on exotic catalysts was missing; the game has been pulled offline pending an investigation by the developer.
We are investigating an issue where several Triumphs have had their progress reset unintentionally, which can potentially remove earned Seals from players.

Destiny 2 is being brought offline as we investigate an ongoing issue causing certain Triumphs, Seals, and Catalysts to lose progress for players. Stand by for updates.

Destiny 2 will remain offline while we investigate potential leads surrounding missing Triumphs, Seals, and Catalysts. We will provide a timeline for bringing Destiny back online as soon as that information becomes available. Standby for updates.

Sincerely, I do not believe it is time to panic (and not just because, as far as I could tell, my titles were all still in place). The reason the game is likely offline is that a rollback is required to restore the correct data, and Bungie doesn’t want players out in the world gaining equipment and victories that they will ultimately lose. This article will be updated as soon as the fix is implemented.
In massively multiplayer online games (MMOs), titles are well-known symbols of accomplishment. Did you know that becoming a Scarab Lord in World of Warcraft was among Luke Smith’s most formative gaming experiences? Luke Smith is the senior creative director of Destiny world at Bungie. You do now.
Oh, and if you’re curious, here’s a list of all 28 titles now available in Destiny 2, organized by release date in reverse chronology: MMXXII, Star Baker, WANTED, Seraph, Ghost Writer, Kingslayer, Scallywag, Flamekeeper, Reveler, Discerptor, Iron Lord, Reaper, Risen, Gumshoe, Disciple-Slayer, Vidmaster, Deadeye, Flawless, Conqueror, Unbroken, Dredgen, Splintered, Fatebreaker, Descendant, Harbinger, Enlightened, Cursebreaker, Rivensbane.
In case you missed it, we also did an exclusive Q&A with Bungie developers yesterday that delved into some of the improvements coming to build crafting when the Lightfall expansion launches on February 28.
